Auriva: “Tiona? I kind of hero worship her - but keep that between you and me, I don’t want anyone laughing.”

interviewer: “Why?”

Auriva: “Look at her! She’s a bounty hunter, a professional. People respect her. She straps on armor and goes to find a guy and I bet people are scared, like ooh here’s a badass bounty hunter, better watch my step.”

interviewer: “But surely being a Sith commands the same type of respect.”

Auriva: “I think there’s a difference between people respecting Sith and bounty hunters. Hunting is a real career. Being a Sith is just - look, the point is, I think she clawed her way to her badassery on her own merits and not the Force. Respect she’s got she earned legitimately and not via an organization. And I think that’s worth a ton more. I would absolutely love to tag along with her at work one day, is all I’m saying.”

interviewer: “You’ve spent some time together in cantinas, anything going on there?”

Auriva: *blushes* “I will admit that I find her appealing physically, but I’m me, and nobody cares. I don’t think she would say no if I asked her, but I’m not sure if I want to ask her, and-” *rapidly* “And this is none of your business, next question.”

interviewer: “So you respect Tiona’s profession. Anything else you like about her?”

Auriva: “I think it’s easy to dismiss her, but that there’s something else about her. I think she’s more savvy about the world than she lets on, than the persona she uses says. I’d like to know more about her, but I don’t want to pressure her into anything. I just like having friends with hidden depths because maybe one day I’ll get to find them out, you know? And I think Tiona’s a deeper pool than she looks.”

OOC: Tiona is one of my favorite characters. On the surface, there’s not much substance to her, though that depends on the context of where you meet her. If you hung out with her on Nar Shaddaa, maybe you might see a party girl with some messed-up habits. If you met her in the context of a contact, you might see a badass professional.

But neither of those sum up Tiona properly. Tiona isn’t just the druggie party girl, or the cool gun for hire, that people might see at first. She has more layers than that. Tiona has challenges she needs to overcome, like using, and she’s struggling with it, and sometimes she does well, and sometimes she fails. She has a complicated past that casts a long shadow, and her life right now is in a large part a response to that past. Watching her deal with that fallout, try to open up and trust new people (her relationship with Vadil, her mentoring of Khatlif, etc) is really fascinating. I want to cheer her on when she does well, and pick her up when she falls.

tl;dr: Tiona feels like a genuine person. She’s complicated and messy and many things at once and she’s flawed. And I think she’s an amazing character because of that.
