Actually, what is AO3, exactly? Is it a nicer community for writing? Or something?
http://archiveofourown.org/ is the AO3. It’s an archive like FF.net, and has several pros and cons. pros include the fact that it’s run by the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW), by fans and for fans; it doesn’t have to remove stuff to please advertisers (hi, LJ), it allows mature stuff, it supports fanart and other media that just isn’t fic. It allows for kudos (likes) and commentary, and also you can make collections and run prompt challenges and stuff. I’ve found the community nothing but awesome and supportive. However, it does require an invite, and it is less trafficked.
